Red Fort New Delhi

The ๐ŸŸRed Fort is situated at the edge of the Yamuna River in Delhi, also known as Old Delhi. This is without a doubt, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city.

This historic Fort dates as far back as 1638, when it was constructed as the official residence and palace of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.

It remained as an official palace for two hundred years!

Built of red sandstone, its massive walls surround the Fort for two kilometers reaching 33 meters in height in certain areas.

A very impressive site to see as you ๐Ÿšถ walk towards the main entrance of the Fort.

During its period as a reigning Fort and Palace, there was once a huge ten meter deep moat surrounding the walls of the of this massive structure at that time!
