Lighthouse Country Regional Trail – Location

Lighthouse Trail Map

If you’re traveling up Island from the Capital City of 🌷 Victoria, British Columbiaon the most southern tip of Vancouver Island, this trail is a great place to stop and take a break.

The trail is located just north of my home and the popular beach resort town of 🏖 Parksville, BC.

It’s approximately a 2 1/2 hour drive from Victoria to this Regional Trail.

It’s ideally located for those staying in and around Parksville and/or Qualicum Beach, located just a few minutes drive up the old island highway.

The trail is actually located in the small coastal community of – Bowser, BC.

Easy Walking Trail And Wheel Chair Accessible

Lighthouse Country Regional Nature Trail

The Regional District of Nanaimo and local volunteers have done a wonderful job of grooming this easy level trail, making it excellent for those requiring wheel chair or motorized wheel chair accessibility.

This beautiful nature trail leads you through dense forest for approximately 2.5 km.

There’s benches to rest on along the route, some wood carvings to look out for and even a “tapping rail” for those who are visually or balanced challenged.

The trail winds its way through a lovely old growth 🌳 Douglas Fir forest, with a few fish-bearing streams and an assortment of interpretive information plaques along the trail as well.

It’s a great place to escape the summer heat, with the tall timbers providing cool shade. As well, you can enjoy a picnic lunch at either parking lot, where the district has even provided clean 🚻 porta toilets for your convenience.

If it happens to be ⚾ baseball season, located at the Wildwood Community Park, there’s a concession open that serves outstanding burgers and fries!
