A Review Of Our Walking Old Montreal Food Tour
If you have been following my blog, then you know one of our favorite things to do when traveling is taking a walking food tour. On our visit to Montreal, Quebec we did just that. We enjoyed a wonderful food tasting experience and history tour with Local Montreal Food Tours.
A Fully Guided Walking Food Tour on the streets of Old Montreal.
Old Montreal Food & Drink Tour
We chose the Old Montreal historical walking food tour, just one of the many offered by this tour company. Its a full 3 hour fully guided tour, walking along the streets of Old Montreal, visiting historical sites and attending local favorite eateries along the way.
If you love tasting and discovering local dishes when you travel to new destinations, then youre going to thoroughly enjoy this food tour. Your guide will also share a bit of the history of Montreal as you make your way along the streets of the city.
An ideal food and drink tour for foodie, craft beer and wine enthusiasts.
A Look At Our Old Montral Food Tour
Our outstanding guide (Isabelle) met us and others taking this tour at the pre-arranged meeting point and time. After a brief introduction, we started the tour right inside this beautiful refurbished Historic Bank in Old Montreal.
Crew Collective & Caf
Inside this beautiful building, we started right off with an amazing classic Montral bagel topped with smoked salmon, at a very popular local cafe. The cafe is located right where the bank tellers and main public banking area used to be years ago.
The salmon and freshly made local bagel were delicious! What a great start to the tour and to be able to visit and see the interior of this amazing historical building.
The interior of this historic building was amazing, complete with stunning authentic elevators. Just being able to view the inside of this unique building was worth the visit.
Time to head out and make our way to our next destination, a popular local bakery. Along the way, you get a chance to view some beautiful historic buildings, with your guide narrating the history of the area and its some of its historic structure you are walking by.
This tour will have you passing by Old Montrals most prominent sights including; Place dArmes, the Old Port and St. Paul Street.
This is a gluten-free bakery and we sampled their signature carrot cake. Just one of the many other delicious items they had on display for sale here. The carrot cake was an excellent tasty gluten free treat!
Modavie French Restaurant
Time for a little upper scale class, as we make our way to one of Old Montreals favorite restaurants. Here we enjoyed sampling some amazing French onion soup.
This was definitely my favorite tasting on the tour, as I absolutely love French onion soup, paired with red or white wine of your choice. It doesnt get any better than this.
As we continue on our way, Isabelle was continually enlightening the group on Montral’s culture and its history. She would stop at various locations and historic sites as we continued on to our next tasting.
Maison Christian Faure
It was on to a nice French pastry shop in Old Montreal. Here we sampled their famous Macaroons.
A very popular French cookie, freshly made.. This bakery is renowned for its expertise in baking this French delicacy.
Bistro-Brasserie Les Soeurs Grises
As we walked along the historic streets of Old Montreal, it was on to our fifth and final stop on the tour. Our last stop was to a quaint Brewpub in the city.
Here, we sampled some of their home brewed craft beer, along with a Montreal favorite. Poutine is a dish that includes french fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy.
You simply cant come to Montreal and not try Poutine at least once!
For food, beer, wine and history lovers, this historical walking food tour is outstanding. Our guide Isabelle was fun and just a wealth of knowledge on the citys history and culture.
Your guide will hand out a nice guide book for you to keep, along with a bottle of water while walking on your tour.
Reasons To Choose Local Montreal Food Tours
I love promoting small businesses that truly care for their city and who also promote small local businesses and the staff they employ. Their Mission is to
Help the neighbourhoods we love grow and prosper. We practice a sustainable tourism philosophy where we ensure that each restaurant we visit is paid fairly for the great food they serve us, and that the wait staff receives proper gratuities for their service.
For more detailed information on this tour and the many other tours Local Montreal Food Tours offers, I have included their Official website link for your convenience.
As well, Ive included the Official Quebec Tourism website link below. Their site is filled with everything you need to start planning your travels to this beautiful Province on the east coast of Canada.
