Samui Honey Cottages In Koh Samui Thailand
As we continue our wonderful holiday in Thailand and after having enjoyed two full days in Bangkok, we now head back to the airport on route to the Island of Koh Samui. After painstakingly deciding on what tropical destination of the many to choose from in Thailand, we finally chose Koh Samui which is located in the Gulf of Thailand.
Why did we decide on this particular island you ask?
There are a number of great reasons we decided on this island, so do check out my previous post and personal photos here on Koh Samui Thailand Holidays.This post is about the hotel we chose to stay at while visiting the island.
Below, is a short video the family put together on their Samui Honey Cottages.

Samui Honey Cottages In Choeng Mon
Choosing where to stay on this island is difficult, as there are so many beautiful locations on the that offer great beaches and resorts to select from. It really gets down to what your personal preferences are and your budget as well.
The beauty of Thailand itself is the choices are quite diverse, with accommodations ranging from a few dollars a night to well over one thousand. The same goes for eating, where you can have a wonderful meal from the many food carts for as little as one dollar to a beautiful full course dining experience served by executive chefs.
It really is up to you!
For us, after experiencing the magnitude of the City of Bangkok, we all wanted to continue our journey and make our way to a tropical destination that was peaceful, relaxing and with lovely beaches.
At the same time, we wanted to stay at a place that offered easy access to all the different sites on the Island.
Beautiful Choeng Mon Beach Sunset
As a result of extensive research and reading various travelers reviews, we decided on the Honey Cottages located on Choeng Mon Beach. This is a much quieter beach setting, situated in a lovely calm bay.
It seemed a perfect fit for our wants, needs and for our travel budget.
The Island Of Koh Samui – Thailand
Briefly, this island is located in the Gulf of Thailand which pretty much parallels with the more familiar resort location of Phuket, which is located on the other side of the mainland.
Samui has a population of approximately 50,000 and is quite large, covering 88 square miles. Tourism is becoming very popular here with the island experiencing a significant rise in tourists in just the last few years.
Koh Samui has one of the most beautiful privately owned small airports we have ever traveled to. There are numerous daily flights in and out to many surrounding destinations making access to the island very easy.
As a result, it is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand and for good reason.
Samui is simply beautiful, surrounded by up to 60 other Islands and a magnificent National Marine Park.
A Family Owned Hotel On the Beach
Checking In at the Front Desk
This beachfront hotel is literally steps from Choeng Mon beach. This beach is a well protected, calm and with a sandy bottom, ideal for those families with small children. If you and your family are looking for a quiet and more laid back part of Koh Samui, then this is an ideal location.
You can travel easily to many other parts of the island via taxi and/or Songtaew (cheaper truck taxis).
There are many restaurants to choose from in Choeng Mon town center, including one located at our chosen hotel. Honey Cottages offers a standard sit down beach front restaurant as well as meals that can be ordered at poolside for your convenience.
Lovely Infinity Pool
Selection of Standard Rooms to Beach Front Cottages
Our Beachfront Honey Cottage
Although small in size, there is a wide selection of rooms to choose from, making this resort affordable for most everyone. You can select a …
Standard room garden view;
Deluxe room garden view;
Deluxe room beachfront;
Family room garden view;
Honey family connecting room;
We chose the deluxe beach front cottage as a special treat and also because of the amazing prices to be had in Thailand. Our family budget would certainly not allow us to afford this luxury most anywhere else in the world!
Inside Our Cottage
Here is a short list of what we enjoyed about this Hotel …
Small family run boutique hotel;
Nice infinity pool steps from the beach;
Individual beach front cottages or a choice of ocean view or pool side rooms;
Breakfast included daily at beach side;
Friendly pleasant staff;
Rooms cleaned daily with bottled water;
Very good in room free wifi internet service;
Air conditioned rooms;
Small fridge in room;
Electric kettle for instant coffee or tea (supplied);
Great value for what you receive compared to North American prices for same.
I have also posted a detailed TripAdvisor Review giving you more detailed comments on the pros and cons of our stay, so be sure to check it out for more information from myself and others who have stayed at this resort.
Go Fishing With The Owner
Owners Fish Boat Anchored
One other special attraction this hotel has to offer is that you are able to book a fishing excursion with the owner of the resort. He is an avid fisherman and will take you along on a daily fishing outing where you can catch your fish and have it prepared for you on your return.
There is a small fee involved which includes drinks, your catch prepared and more.
A nice personal touch added to this resort.
It is great for those wishing to experience a few hours at sea fishing traditional Thai style and later enjoying a fresh fish Thai meal.
We enjoyed our stay here and when you compare this to what you would normally pay for a similar resort in many other parts of the globe, the value for your dollar is amazing!
I’ve also listed the Official Tourism Thailand link below to their website page for your convenience. It’s filled with excellent information on everything this beautiful Country has to offer.
