My Gr8 Travel Tips Photo Den A Retired Fishing Boat
A presentation of our families personal photographs taken during our travel adventures around the world.
This time we head to the fishing village of Ucluelet, which is located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia – Canada.

This old retired fish boat is a fixture in downtown Ucluelet. The Evelyn May certainly must have some fish stories to tell, from its time spent in the rugged frigid waters of the Pacific Ocean on the west coast of Canada!
Today, it rests comfortably on private property for everyone to see as they pass by the main street of Ucluelet. Tourists, like myself, love taking the opportunity to capture a photo of this piece of history and what was and still is, a major industry and livelihood for many living in this part of Canada.
Ucluelet means “people of the safe harbour” in the indigenous Nuu-chah-nulth language of the First Nations people of the island.
Once a small fishing community, today Ucluelet has grown into a very popular tourist destination situated alongside world renowned Long Beach located in British Columbia’s Pacific Rim National Park.
People travel to Tofino and Ucluelet year round from all over the world for world class surfing, hiking, kayaking, fishing, diving, camping, whale and bear watching, beach combing and storm watching. It’s outdoor enthusiasts paradise!
